Verdant hills roll north from the city wall,
Pristine streams wind to the east.
Here we bid farewell,
Like water-plants scattered by the breeze, you journey ten thousand "Li“
You roam like vagrant clouds.
The sun sets slowly, lingering.
A final wave as you ride,
Your mount neighs "Xiao Xiao" as you fade.

Li Bai: 701 A.D. - 762 A.D
"Li" is an ancient Chinese unit of distance. The definition changed over time by different administrations. It is roughly one third of an English mile.
The format of this poem is five-character eight-line verse, meaning five characters each line, but not the five-character four-line quatrain.

青山横北郭,
白水绕东城。 此地一为别,
孤蓬万里征。 浮云游子意,
